HAIVEN 'EVERYTHING SUCKS’

In conversation with Artytype member HAIVEN about her inclusive and positively infectious pop anthem; ‘Everything Sucks’ coming out next Friday, February 10th.

‘I want people to know that it is a song for everyone. When Harry (Safer in the City) and I started writing it, we really wanted a song to sound authentic and true to that feeling of when everything’s gone wrong and say it’s okay to be a dramatic mess sometimes. It’s a form of relatability. It was one of those weeks where everything that could've gone wrong, went wrong, and I said to Harry “all of these things happened and I literally pushed on this goddamn pull door, I’ve had enough and my life is in dismay!” without knowing he was taking notes.'

This door was clearly the straw that broke the camel's back but we can now only thank it for Haiven’s first new single off of a new EP.

Haiven already has a captivating folk album out under the name ‘Haiven Sellers’, however,

she is now going under the new artist name ‘HAIVEN' and starting her journey as a pop artist, incorporating her folk storytelling and vocal techniques, combining them with new production and visuals.

In relation to her also up and coming music video Haiven told me; “I didn’t realise I loved writing pop so much! There’s lots of different bright colours with a new bold persona of the music. There’s still the element of realism, I’m still the folk girl writing stories about her life but the sound and visuals will be very different.’

Haiven is also performing at the Jacaranda Basement February 11th, the day after her release.

On being part of Artytype Haiven told us ”I think it’s a really cool thing and a really useful and needed tool to have available to us.”

It's better to have it then to not have it!
